Following another spell in the second league, this time of six years, the club won back a place in the top flight having finished second in the 2011–12 Czech 2. Liga. Their tenure in the First League came to an end in May 2018; after losing 2–0 to relegation rivals MFK Karviná at home on the final day of the season, Karviná survived at Jihlava's expense.
